The Maretlwane Experience

Maretlwane is a 200 hectare property in the heart of the Magaliesberg, on the Maretlwane river which has its origin at Castle Gorge, one of the most beautiful gorges to be found in the area. The river runs through the entire property, offering refreshing swims in pristine rock pools. Maretlwane is a game conservancy, boasting species such as kudu, gemsbok, wildebeest, nyala, zebra, giraffe and impala. We have wonderful bird life and a large variety of indigenous trees and grasses.

The Maretlwane Lodge
The Maretlwane Lodge is a tastefully furnished, self-catering “home in the bush” which provides comfortable accommodation for up to 10 people. Two separate wings share a common living area. Each wing has two bedrooms sharing their own “stoep”, kitchenette, shower and toilet, which makes it semi-independent. The common area has a central fireplace warming two lounges, a dining room and fully equipped kitchen which is serviced daily. A thatched lapa with a wooden deck overlooking the river provides a perfect sunset drinks setting. Next to the lapa is a magnificent braai area with plenty of seating space. We request that you supply your own wood and charcoal please. We also provide a Weber and a Potjie. The Lodge is off the grid - solar lighting and gas for hot water and cooking add to the bushveld experience, but electrical appliances other than those drawing light current such as cell phone chargers cannot be accommodated.
